Schonbrunn Palace, Vienna
Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most important cultural monuments in Austria, a vital land mark in Viennas tourism drive, and an icon that has a long and interesting history. To add to this importance UNESCO added it to the World Cultural Heritage List in 1996.

Referred to as the Katterburg from the beginning of the 14th century owned by the monastery at Klosterneuburg. Since it has been owned by some prestigious Austrian figures such as the mayor of Vienna, Maximilian II, Emperor Leopold I and Rudolph II. Visits from Emperor Matthias for hunting on the estate. In 1683 Schonbrunn Palace fell victim to the Turkish troops during the siege of Vienna. The palace passed to the ownership of the Republic of Austria at the end of the monarchy in 1918 and was subsequently administered by the Schlosshauptmannschaft Schönbrunn.
