Notre Dame, Paris
Notre Dame Cathedral is a Gothic styled Catholic Cathedral. Located in Paris, France and translates as “Our Lady of Paris”. Housing the Archbishop of Paris Notre Dame Cathedral is widely considered one of the greatest examples of Gothic architecture in Europe. Its sculptures and stained glass windows demonstrate the influence of naturalism. Notre Dame Cathedral also contains the Crown of Thorns.

Notre Dame de Paris was among the first buildings in the world to use the flying buttress. Cathedral architects built the buttress around the outside walls due to the design ever increasing in height during build. During the 1790s the Cathedral experienced damage during the Revolution. An extensive restoration project was completed during the 19th century to return the cathedral to glory.
